Futures, spot gold and silver.
There are two common ways to trade gold, and Mizora Pro lists both.
- GC is the gold futures contract traded on COMEX, part of CME Group. Futures prices include the cost of carrying gold until expiry, so GC normally trades a little above spot.
- XAUUSD is spot gold priced in US dollars, quoted over the counter the way currencies are. It is the symbol most chart readers mean when they talk about gold.
- XAGUSD is spot silver priced in US dollars. Silver usually follows gold's direction but moves further in percentage terms, partly because it also has heavy industrial use.
Open GC and press G: the four-chart grid puts spot gold alongside it, a simple way to see whether futures and spot agree before you commit.
The dollar, real rates and fear.
Gold pays no interest, so it competes with assets that do. When real interest rates (rates after inflation) fall, gold tends to look more attractive; when they rise, it tends to struggle. Because gold is priced in dollars, a weaker dollar usually supports it and a stronger one usually weighs on it.
Gold is also a haven. Geopolitical shocks, banking stress and sharp equity sell-offs can bring buyers in quickly. Over the longer run, central bank buying and investment demand shape the trend. On the day, the big scheduled catalysts are US inflation data, the jobs report and Federal Reserve decisions.
Metals trade nearly 24 hours on weekdays. Activity picks up in the London session and again when New York opens, and the Mizora Pro watchlist shows whether each market is open.
Silver deserves its own respect. It shares gold's drivers but adds sensitivity to industrial demand and the economic cycle, and its moves are often sharper. Traders who are comfortable on gold sometimes find the same stop distance far too tight on silver.
An XAUUSD chart that keeps up.
Gold can trend for days and then whip through a level in seconds. Tools in Mizora Pro that fit both sides of that:
- Higher-timeframe structure. 4H and 1D charts with EMA 20 and 50, Ichimoku and Fibonacci retracements (F) to map the trend. Charting.
- Intraday levels. VWAP and volume profile on the 5m and 15m, with the key-levels panel showing ATR 14, VWAP and the point of control. See the volume profile guide.
- Alerts at the level. Right-click the chart to set a server-side price alert on a round number or a prior high, and get it by email if you are away.
- Order flow. Footprint, delta and a DOM ladder in the order flow workspace, in Beta and modelled from live prices, not exchange depth.
Size for the volatility.
Gold and silver can travel much further in a session than a major currency pair, so the same stop in price terms can mean very different risk. The position-size calculator in the Tools tab sizes a trade by ticks, percentage, price or ATR, and the risk manager draws the price where your account would hit its daily limit before you click. Brackets set stop loss and take profit in ticks with the entry. How position sizing works.
Every fill uses the server's live quote, and an order is refused if that quote is stale.
